Tulsa Commercial Real Estate Experts – A Review of Elote Cafe & Catering

Tulsa Commercial Real Estate Experts: A Review of Elote Cafe & Catering

by U.S. SBA Entrepreneur of the Year & Cofounder of Fears & Clark Tulsa Commercial Real Estate Group – Clay Clark

As the Marketing Director for Fears & Clark Tulsa Commercial Real Estate, I spend quite a bit of time downtown meeting with clients over lunch. Sometimes, it seems that commercial real estate is a professional dominated by lunch eating and coffee drinking. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, on my most recent dinner meeting, my appointment took me to a local restaurant by the name of Elote. This downtown Tulsa restaurant is incredible.

When my client and I walked in, we were immediately drawn in and wowed by the eclectic decor. The uniqueness of it all really restaurant and the rich flavor of decor was completely consistent throughout the restaurant. Unlike some of the national restaurants that work very hard to create a local feel, but end of missing the mark, Elote Cafe feels honest in its decor and overall atmosphere.

We were promptly greeted by an energetic and cheery hostess who asked us if we wanted to sit in the restaurant of the bar. We chose the bar because I had heard that Elote is the home of the “World’s Largest 100% Recycled Bar.” Being quasi skeptical about hype (from too much time spent talking with some bogus potential commercial real estate client), I was anxious to see what the excitement was all about.

As we escorted to our seats, I couldn’t help but to notice the incredibly unexpected “luchadore” wrestling ring. This wonderful restaurant actually had wrestling ring built for “luchadore” wrestling. “Luchadores” are masked wrestlers who wrestle in a dramatic WCW style. They play to the crowd and make quite a production out of each bout.

Our waitress who greeted us was hilarious and full of energy. She asked us what we wanted to drink. My client had a water and I had a “margarita” (our meeting was after hours and on a more casual level at this point). The “margarita” was excellent and my understanding was that the water was clean & pure (and not authentically from Mexico…brown). Within moments we were greeted by a another gentlemen who brought us chips and salsa. They salsa was excellent. It had a very organic feel and the chips did as well…and there is good reason for it. Elote is an organic and environmentally conscious restaurant first and foremost.

At Elote it appears as though the entire team is focused on serving great food in a great atmosphere while not comprising on their use of locally grown and fresh ingredients. All their printing is done on recycled paper. Their fryer oil is recyle to make clean-burning-bio-diesel-fuel. Their meats are actually raised organically in Bixby Oklahoma. These guys even do compost. All of their produce remnants are composted at the Newsome Community Farms. Their bar is made out of recycled bottles and morter. The bar top is made out of recycled components that came from the owner’s home. The support beams for the bar are made from recycled rail road ties. The company’s dedication is “all in,” “real,” and “uncompromising.”

When our meals arrived my client and eye were completed wowed with the presentation and the quality of the food. The “puffy tacos” we both enjoyed were tremendous. They did not taste like they were made out of butter and salt only, like at some chain restaurants. The food tasted “fresh.” The flavor was full and original. Needless to say, we left the restaurant both feeling like we had discovered another downtown jewel. Elote impressed us from the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out. The owners did not miss anything in their quest to create a great “ambiance” in Tulsa’s Deco District. The music played overhead was great, the decor, the colors, the smells, the 100% recycled bar, the organic ingredients that went into our meals, the pleasant wait staff, the cheerful greeter and the taste of the food all came together to create the perfect dining experience. Elote, job well done.
